BIKEYARD 2.3.4 is a wide one. The recap you share can now be a short video instead of a still. Photos travel with your comments and your private messages. A trail can carry a warning when it is closed or being worked on. And the app now keeps photos, maps and recent screens on your device, so it opens faster and works better with no signal.
Share your ride as a video
The ride recap and the trail-effort recap now have a Photo / Video switch. Choose Video and BIKEYARD renders a short animated recap of the ride — the route drawing itself, the numbers counting up — and hands it to the system share sheet like any other clip. The still poster is still there when that is what you want.
Photos in comments and messages
Add up to five photos to a comment or a reply, and up to ten to a private message. Photo-only comments and messages are fine — no caption required. A comment shows its photos as a strip you can swipe through; a message shows them as an album in the bubble.
Every photo is stripped of its location and camera metadata on your phone, before it is uploaded — on every kind of upload, not just this one.
Trail warnings
A trail can now say what is happening on it right now: closed, works in progress, or hazard, with a note and an end date. A warning is decided by the same quick community vote as a small edit, so it appears while it still matters, and it lifts itself on the date you set. When you propose any trail edit, you are now asked to explain it — the riders who vote deserve to know why.
A reading view of its own
Longreads open in a redesigned reader: the cover image sits behind the text and drifts as you scroll, and you can choose a sans serif or serif face for the body. Pick whichever you'd rather read a trip report in.
Faster, and better offline
BIKEYARD now keeps photos, map tiles and the last version of each screen on your device. Conversations, posts, profiles and trails open on what they showed last time and stay readable with no connection, and the map re-downloads far less as you pan around it. Clearing the cache now asks exactly what to remove — photos, maps, downloaded regions, messages, feed, rides — each with its own size.
Steadier ride recording on Android
Starting a ride no longer asks for "allow all the time" — the ordinary "while using the app" permission is all recording needs. The recorder now holds a wake lock so it keeps logging with the screen off, there is a new battery setting that stops Android winding it down mid-ride, and a ride that loses the GPS signal now tells you instead of quietly recording nothing.
