Until now BIKEYARD did one thing: it mapped the trails around you, recorded what you rode and ranked the effort. Version 2.0 keeps all of that and adds the part that was missing — the other riders. There is a marketplace for bikes, parts and gear, a chat that delivers in real time, a feed you can follow and reply in, and a wall of achievements that fills up as you ride.
It is out on the App Store and Google Play on the same day, and it is still free, with no ads.
A marketplace for bikes, parts and gear
Sell the bike you have outgrown, or find the one you want, without leaving the app you already ride with.
- Listings with photos, price, category and subcategory, condition and a description, filtered by category and by region and reset in one tap.
- Regions are searched worldwide in your own language and resolved from GeoNames, so a city reads the way you write it. Prices are shown in the currency of the region you chose.
- "My listings" carries the whole lifecycle — under review, published, rejected, sold, expired — and republishing when a listing runs out.
- Every new and materially edited listing is reviewed by a human before it is published, and you are notified when it goes live, when it is rejected and when its month is nearly up.
- Marketplace conversations stay separate from your personal ones. Reporting and blocking are inside the conversation, where you need them.
Messages that arrive while you are reading them
Chat now runs over a live connection: messages land instantly, you can see when the other rider is typing, read receipts come back, and the tab bar carries an unread badge.
- Mute a conversation, or turn a whole category of notifications off.
- Decide who may start a conversation with you at all: everyone, your followers, the people you follow, or no one.
- Push notifications on both platforms, for messages, likes, comments, replies, new followers and marketplace decisions — and tapping one opens the screen it is about, not just the app.
A feed worth following
- Follow a rider and get a notification whenever they publish a post or a public ride. Both have their own switches in settings.
- Like comments and replies, open the list of riders who liked one, and edit or delete your own — edited comments say so.
- Reply threads load their recent replies inline.
- Followers and following lists on every profile, and the list of riders who liked a post.
- People search on the feed suggests riders through the followers you share, and remembers the profiles you looked up last.
- Posts are now written on their own screen, with a real photo section, a counter and a warning before you throw a draft away.
- Anything — a post, a ride, a rider — can be reported with a reason.
Achievements, and honours on the trails you ride
Your profile now has a wall of achievements with its own artwork, and the app tells you the moment a new one is earned.
Rides carry honour badges for what you actually won on the trail: a course record, a top-ten placing, or the Local Legend title for the rider who has been riding a trail most often and most recently. Each badge names the segment it was won on and opens it.
The ride screen, rebuilt
- Trail elevation profiles, computed from terrain data, with the metrics for each trail.
- The activity map draws every trail and segment you rode in its own difficulty colour, labels them by name and pins where each honour was won.
- Drag along the speed and elevation charts to read the value at any point of the ride, with the climb profile behind the speed trace.
- The results list shows each segment's distance, time and speed beside the trail's own classification mark.
- Batch photo selection for rides and posts, with an editable strip and explicit ordering.
- Private rides are marked as private, in the list and on the ride itself.
- Points of interest on the navigation map, including bike shops and repair services.
Also in this release
- A pitch-black theme, alongside the existing dark one.
- The first tab is now called Feed, because that is what it shows.
- Photos are stored at Full HD as WebP, which makes them quicker to load.
- Creating a listing is fully reversible — step back to the details or the category without losing the draft.
- Dozens of fixes: notifications open the right screen, a conversation opened from one shows the right name and the right side of the thread, sharing a ride as GPX opens the share sheet it promised, and someone else's ride no longer offers you buttons you cannot press.
Video upload has been removed everywhere in the app. Videos already uploaded still play.
